Each year the Ministry of Marine Resources in the Cook Islands holds a Lagoon Day, spread over two days, raising awareness and educating people on matters which impact the health of our lagoons.
There were static displays as well as a variety of presentations that were spread between three venues from inland to the beach, and this year The Edgewater Resort & Spa did their bit, having the “lagoon creatures” displays on the beach in front of the resort.
As well as the public, groups of school children visited the displays on the beach where marine officers were on hand to explain the importance of protecting our lagoon and the creatures that live in it.
As part of the Lagoon Day, there was also a mini green market and night green market, with food available in biodegradable containers, as well as a free outdoor night movie.
Once again it was a very successful event which raised an enormous amount of awareness toward the protection of our lagoons, and The Edgewater Resort & Spa were proud to be part of it.
